A couple of months ago, as I was waiting for my hairdresser, I caught her watching Private Practice. I had heard of the show but never had the urge to indulge in the medical drama that was a spinoff from the very popular Grey's Anatomy. While my hair was being expertly treated, my mind was taking in the full on emotional drama that this small knit practice was facing, not only from their patients, and personal lives.
Do not think for a moment that I ran home and watched the show. It took a while for me to even search for the title. I spent most of my life avoiding this type of dramatics. I only had seen one episode of Grey's Anatomy and enjoyed, but never finished, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder. Let's just say I was fighting with myself to get started. Then I did.
The doctors are all a bunch of 30-year-olds that are a few hot messes as they try to do their best to run a caring practice that tends to all their patients' needs. I sucked in each case that came along that had extra baggage down to the dating lives of every one of the doctors. I get sucked in hard. I just want to continue to watch this amazing show and figure out what the next wrong step they could take in their lives or what tragedy would befall them in three episodes. Shonda Rhimes really created a good show. I even considered watching Grey's for a short hot minute but couldn't even fathom me sitting through 20 seasons. Also, I've seen what fans go through and I'm just not ready for that serious of an emotional roller coaster.
I'm surprised by how much I enjoy this show but would definitely recommend it to any viewer that is into medical dramas with relationship issues. This is one show that I'm happy that I'm late for. Can you imagine waiting weekly to find out what was going to happen next? Thank goodness for Netflix.
