Gilmore Girls season 1 episode 4 The Deer Hunters

At this point, I wonder if I am really into this show or just torturing myself.

School shopping with Lorelai seems like torture. I'm assuing this cold opening focuses on Rory and her school adventures. Yay.

How many bags does Rory carry to school? It seems excessive. Rory receives a D on her paper from her charming teacher. The mean girls attack, somehow knowing her grad. Apparently, people who work at McDonalds get Ds. Right after their attack, cute blonde harasses her about her relationship status. Chad Michael Murry was truly adorable in his prime. Sookie gets a great food crtic review but is upset by something that is said.

How is it that Rory struggling to study with a needy mother reminds me of me and my mother. The woman wants attention and ice cream whilst Rory desperately needs to study. I guess going to a a private school isn't as easy as she thought it would be. She had it easy at Stars High. Which she tells to Lane. Lane is in disbelief. Sookie can't deal with the fact the critic called her magical, 'kept her mother alive' risotto "fine". Such emotions!

Parent/Teacher conferences at Chilton are power suits and white pearls dress code function. Rory makes a spectacle of herself, arriving latent embarassing herself over the coffee, as well as question the time of the SAT Test. The parents do not like her but the English teacher, Max, seems to be interested in who she is. He slips that Rory got a 'D' on her paper. Lorelai realizes that she was a terrible parent and rushes out to see Rory who is throwing pencils at Luke's diner. They have a heart to heart about how Rory will be able to catch up and do better. Sweet moment. Ever had your nemesis recite Shakespeare into your ear in a calm voice? Neither have I. But for some odd reason, Paris thinks this will get into Rory's head and apparently it does??

Anways, Sookie is still freaking out about her magic risotto and asking a waiter who the food critic was and is. Study sessions with Lorelai seem helpful but I would like to point out that one shouldn't cram the night before a test. You will stress and fall asleep on a book. I have been there. More than once. Rory oversleeps, rushes out the house and drives to Schoo but not before she calls Lane about her notes. A deer hits her car and Rory steps out to check on it but it is long gone and she is beyond late. Girl looks a mess. Cute english teacher, Max, can't allow her to take her test because she arrived late. Rory tries to get him to change his mind but it's a no go. As she is desperately trying to push her case, Paris decides this is a good time to call Rory a loser. Rory goes off on Paris as well as Triston (Chad Michael Murry) about her name. Great!

We still dealing with Sookie and the risotto. She's back to normal because she found the man's receipt. He got the wrong wine to have with her magic risotto. God help me. Lorelai gets a call from Chilton. Lorelai attempts to speak to the Headmaster about the incident but he is a pompous ass. Can I mention that Max and the Headmaster were drinking tea when she walked in. Lorelai gives a long rant that the Headmaster informs her ain't shit then tells her that she and Rory will need to figure out if they can handle the standards and pressure at this school or leave. Then promptly kicks her out of his office.

You can't get your way all the time.

Sookie is crazy enough to find the food critic and give him another taste of her risotto with the right wine. She is determined as hell. Rory doesn't want to talk about her day but wants to look for the deer. Lorelai mentions her talk with the Headmaster and concerns about Rory and her dreams for Harvard. Good parenting moment. Rory states that she could have done better if she was caught up, that Harvard is her dream, and thanked Lorelai for yelling at the Headmaster. Aww.

English teacher, Max calls the Gilmore household, leaving a message about how he convinced Headmaster to allow Rory to complete extra credit to bring her grade up, and he enjoyed his encounter with Lorelai. How nice.

End Scene. I'll admit, this Episode was not that fun. It was quite dramatic for a high school test. Hope it picks up.
